Melaka, A Family Getaway
Melaka or Malacca, a historical state and a state that I spent 2 years of my uni life. It's about 1.5 hours from Klang Valley and 2 hours from the Kiasu Land. Since my bro just got his new car 2 weeks ago, it's lot easier to arrange a trip in between Singapore and KL, which is Melaka, a good place for weekend getaway if you have family members living apart in Singapore.
The Mahkota Hotel. It used to be called Century Mahkota, located at the back of Mahkota Parade.
Initially we picked Equatorial Hotel but switched to Mahkota Hotel as we wanted an apartment than 2 hotel rooms. We were told to be prepared on the room condition in Mahkota Hotel and not to have hope at all for a good apartment. Since it's only a night, we took the risk.
When reached, I looked at the exterior of the apartment...
Not that bad what, quite well maintained with evergreen flowers at the car park floor and the paint looks like newly painted.
We parked the car and walked to the lift lobby...
Ok, got a dent on the door. Wonder if Hercules stays here?
Moved up to the floor, held our breath and opened the door...
Not bad right? The rooms and mattresses were tidy, the toilets were clean, the living hall and kitchen were neat too. Phew~ no cockroach and lizard found, main criteria for me to judge a hotel.
What about the view? I went room-by-room to capture the views...
Since we stayed at high floor, so no worries on the noise from the traffic. And the panoramic from the balcony facing Mahkota Parade...
Then the little cutie wanted to go playground, so we went out to find out what amenities the hotel has...
The pool area was manned with lifeguards, should be safe for kids. There is another bigger pool...
Although some of the furniture and facilities show some aging effects, but the overall condition is still good. A good hotel for family outing, you don't even need to drive out if your kids are happy with the pool and playground. And because of its strategic location, it's very convenient that you can walk to Mahkota Parade, Dataran Pahlawan, Carrefour and hang out at the Jetty. If you have emergency, the Mahkota Medical Center (look at one of the photos above) is also within walking distance. Hehe... :P
Am I sound like a travel agent? Ha! I think so, but I am not a sales agent for Mahkota Hotel nor running a travel agency business. It's because these are the only photos I took during my trip, I didn't have any free time for photos when visiting Jonker Street, durian cendol, chicken rice ball, it's precious time to have fun with the little cutie, every millisecond counts. ;)
Nice introduction there, very well-equipped but I'm guessing the price should be high.

RM500 for a weekend night with 3 rooms apartment inclusive of 6pax breakfast buffet. So if you have 6 pax, it's less than RM100 per night per pax with breakfast, it ain't that expensive.
