Hotel Panorama by Rhombus, TST Hong Kong
Hotel - a very crucial element in any trip (at least to me). It could determine whether a trip is an enjoyable or a disappointing one.
I stayed in Hotel Panorama by Rhombus in my recent trip to Hong Kong. It's located at a strategic location in Tsim Sha Tsui, just within walking distance to shopping malls like iSquare, K-11, Harbor City and whatnot, as well as within few ten steps to the entrance of MTR. It's also surrounded by numbers of Char Chan Teng that you can conveniently walk in to grab some quick meal.
Let's check out the room...
A standard room. The room is fully equipped with standard amenities such as wired internet, cable TV, mini bar etc you would expect from a hotel, but don't expect a spacious room in any HK hotel. Most important, the bed is comfy.
Let's check out the toilet...
Wow wow! Iced chocolate right from the tab?! What about the bath tub...
If you're wondering now, yes, this post is indeed to blog about the impression (and experience) I had, not really to introduce the hotel (which I initially wanted to).
We arrived at the hotel early in the morning. As we requested to have all rooms (total 4) to be in the same floor, we were told to wait until 12pm (and we understood the check in time is 2pm). Disappointingly the next shift of receptionist did not arrange it for us (despite the earlier shift staff promised on it), so we ended up with rooms in different floors and the wait (for rooms to be at the same floor) was meaningless. We understood the hotel might have its challenge to arrange that for us, therefore we did not make a fuss (but we expect some explanation!) but desperately wanted the rooms to refresh before we head out for meals and shopping. We got the rooms and were welcomed with such surprise in the toilet, well, not all rooms but level 16. Apparently there was a maintenance going on. No prior notification and no apology by the hotel, we were left there waiting till 3pm before the work complete. Fortunately we had few rooms so we could easily make use of other toilets, what about other guests? Sigh. The good thing out of this incident was the house keeper was very helpful and shared our frustration (she was called by many other guests for the same matter). Beside that, the hotel is good and comfy. The staff at housekeeping, concierge and house cafe were friendly and helpful.
Nevertheless, I attest the hotel name with my window view...
A panorama view of Hong Kong island. You can see the familiar Canon and Samsung neon boards if you are a HK TVB drama fan. To get more excitement, move up to hotel's Sky Garden at 40th floor...
A perfect panoramic day view of Hong Kong. The night scene is even better, perfect scene if you own a DSLR.
Will I return to the hotel? Perhaps, if there's no other option. I hope it's really a one-off incident. The hotel should improve in setting customer's expectation and must not give surprise like this to the guests. I wasn't sure if this was a silent apology, I received this in the last 2 days of my stay...
Let's give the benefit of doubts to the hotel, I assume it's. :)
